Pros
Great coworkers Decent hours Job responsibilities as a budtender are minimal. Leads get to do all the work for a tiny raise
Cons
Your experience at Nectar will differ greatly based on what location you work for, and how willing you are to kiss up to those above you. CEO surrounds himself with Yes Men, and you can tell from the way he treats low-level workers how disposable he considers them. On a store visit, he ignored everyone but his adoring entourage. Scheduling will literally never leave you alone to cover extra shifts, because they refuse to have staffing levels that are adequate, and no one wants to work at certain stores because of a lack of security (a third party company checks in once a night, if that). Scheduling department gets their feelings hurt if you don't respond to a million requests on your days off. Nectar will also HIDE security incidents from you. If a store gets robbed, you have to hear it through the grapevine, because Scheduling needs you to cover the shift of the employees that are terrified or quit. More and more of the product offerings are house brands that are relabeled so Nectar can make more profit. The lower level product looks like grass clippings, is relabeled as a Nectar brand (of course, they're never advertised as such), and marked up significantly. They at least used to offer some pretty good deals, but now for most items, there's a minimum purchase of 2 products to get a discount, but they don't tell you that until the checkout. Store meetings are listening to someone read an email aloud once a month like being in kindergarten. Middle managers are ineffectual. They're terrified of employees unionizing, so they make sure employees have no breaks together, and I watched an email from the server get deleted detailing complaints from the staff. They also try to make you work at other stores (see above re: Scheduling) so that single stores won't meet to try to organize for a union, and so you're considered an employee of the whole company. There's a points system in place for calling out, and points will not be waived with a doctor's note, you just have to have the PTO to cover it. Which means you have to EARN your sick time. Good luck if you're chronically ill, or if inclement weather traps you at home. You get dinged. The worst employees get shuffled to other stores to be annoying somewhere else. There's a huge divide and rancor between day and night crews, with no overlap in responsibilities. The employee discount is smaller than the discount you can get at other stores being an OLCC Permit Holder. It's even less than the sales they offer on the same product, which is an insult.
