Despite the pros listed, I would never recommend working here. Even though they say employees are like one big family, unless you've worked there for ten years, are a family member, or have known the President before getting the job, you won't be trusted or respected. This is an extremely hostile environment where certain staff are labeled as "the ideal employee" and others are called "nosy" or "competitive." Don't get me wrong, these labels are not private. They're broadcast to all staff, making some feel superior and others to be made inferior. There is no HR, no training process, no employee manual. You're basically on your own from the day you join and if you don't do things their way you are publicly chastised. Oh and don't ask questions because you'll then be called out for questioning authority.
My biggest problem is the general lack of respect leadership shows to staff and even clients. The "I know more than anyone" mentality is rampant.
There is no career ladder and when staff ask for clarity around roles and career trajectory they are simply told that if you need a career roadmap maybe this place isn't for you. Everyone is expected to do everything, regardless of their role and the benefit is that you get to serve clients doing good in the world. So if you're working hard all the time you expect you'll be rewarded with time off, right? Nope, two weeks a year for everyone other than those who have been there for ten years. But again, there's no guideline for how you have the potential to accrue more and when that could be.
I'll admit I soured to this place and it became very evident to others. But I also have never felt so disrespected, ostracized, and penalized in a work environment. I, along with two other staff I know of, began seeing a therapist because of the turmoil this place caused in our lives. If you have skill, take it elsewhere because it will be seen as a threat here.
