Pros

For the first time in my career, I feel like I’ve found a company where I can see myself long-term. My role is remote, my manager is wonderful, and I genuinely enjoy the people I work with. There hasn’t been a single day where I’ve thought, 'Ugh, I have work,' which was so common in my previous positions at larger companies. The workplace here, at least in my unit, is supportive and far from toxic. There is generous benefits and I truly enjoy what I do.

Cons

It might be helpful to have more integrated systems so we don’t have to spend so much time on back-and-forth updates or small manual changes. Sometimes it feels like the information we need is scattered, and it would be great if everything could be accessible in one place.

Pros

Company looks prestigious on your resume. Large company network with potential relocation opportunities, lateral moves, etc. Pay was decent for my department and location. I made great connections and had the opportunity to collaborate on projects that helped me grow as a professional.

Cons

Buckle up, because this will be a long one. Nestle took over the company I had been working for full-time for years. We had already changed hands a few times, so I was no stranger to some of the growing pains that came with acquisitions. The Nestle acquisition was hands-down the worst experience of them all. They changed too much too fast, and we suffered for their mistakes. They took away so much, the health benefits were more expensive for less coverage, and they insisted on treating highly educated scientists like line workers. The company is so large that calling HR feels like contacting a customer service line. In many ways, they truly embody the corporate evil that we all talk about. They plaster on the fakest smiles and tell you you're family, but their actions say otherwise. My own personal experience within my department was a rough one. If it weren't for the people I enjoyed working with and the level of seniority I had, I would have left sooner. Many days were miserable. Drama and favoritism were rampant. Someone was crying about something every other day. Leaving was such a weight off my shoulders.
