Pros

- Some really smart, passionate, and good people work here - Free lunch on Fridays - Unlimited PTO - Open office (could be a con too) - Unlimited snacks, drinks, and cold brew - Nice office and convenient location - Fun work with well-known clients; looks great on resume - Chance to explore projects and roles you're interested in - Different areas for you to work in -- nice open kitchen, living area, couches

Cons

- Terrible executive team that doesn't know what they're doing. They don't understand the customers and are very disconnected with the way work is done and produced for the clients - Layoffs (10%) happened early in the year and company is still trying to recover from the loss since there was no backup plan in place. They're rapidly hiring but training is lacking so new hires often feel overwhelmed - Lots of change and unthoughtful, hasty decision making without a practical execution plan or timeline to lead the changes - Sales is extremely competitive because they get a good commission but they often sell many poor deals that the company can't deliver on so clients end up frustrated or churning - Customer success team has many new and unclear roles without any proper training or onboarding processes; new hires have a tough time and everyone feels confused about how to work with each other - Lack of processes and resources make it difficult for teams to be efficient at their job - Lots of new software being introduced with unclear instructions or training for usage and adaptation to the way each person currently works - The quality of the in-house software is mediocre compared to competitors. Engineering team poorly managed without a clear focus. Lots of attention to adding new features but fails to improve existing ones - Hard to maintain work/life balance because you feel obligated to stay since everyone is always there late either working or hanging out with each other - There are cliques and favorites -- they have to like you or else you're left out and will have a hard time working your way up - HR does not truly understand benefits and has no set process for hiring or onboarding. They don't do proper background checks on new hires and the information provided at exit interviews won't be taken into account. - CEO is an inspirational and good man with a drive to succeed. He cares a lot about what others think of him and seems to often seek approval. He's indecisive so it's tough to follow his vision for the company.

Pros

The company culture at NewsCred is incredible. While working here, everyone I interacted with (both on my team, software engineering, and in other roles) was passionate, dedicated, and truly loved the company and believed in it! Lots of talent and if you are a younger software engineer like me, you will learn a lot from patient coworkers who are eager to provide help and constructive criticism so that you can grow as a software engineer. The company leadership is also superb...the CEO is incredibly smart, dynamic, and a down-to-earth nice guy! When I decided to leave for health reasons and for a fresh start, I got nothing but support and kindness. Seriously, if you are considering applying or accepting a job here, stop considering and just do it. You won't regret it, and it might be the best decision of your career. Such fond feelings for this place! As for benefits: good salary (on par with top tech companies), stock options, health/dental/life insurance, performance based bonuses, insurance, unlimited vacation (unlike some places, the unlimited vacation doesn't deter people from taking occasional time off...I know some companies say "unlimited" and mean "none", but NewsCred isn't like this, they just expect you to be professional and understand what is appropriate), office snacks, lunch on Fridays (from great NYC area restaurants), fun NewsCred events and outings, weekly happy hours, casual dress...I could probably keep going and going! Great benefits! :-)

Cons

The only con I could possibly think of is that the 401k plan could be better. However, the company may soon be offering 401k matching, so that's a plus.
