Pros

Time off is good. Some of the faculty and staff do truly care but they are quickly frustrated. Junior faculty tend to band together since official mentorship programs aren't implemented, especially in Health Sciences. The Provost is one of the bright spots, he seemed to truly care and want to change things for the better.

Cons

People with a "government employee" attitude run most of the university and they do not seem to want anything that might rock the boat. I watched one person blatantly lie to her supervisor on more than one occasion and then get rewarded by the system with a promotion. There is more than one program/department where people will pointedly avoid speaking to each other (even supervisors to their employees). Staff/faculty meetings in those areas are a nightmare, much less day to day operations. Obviously this prevents those that do care from focusing on the students, not to mention creates a hostile environment for everyone. The back stabbing is worse than anyplace I have ever worked. The problems are not just in one program or department, they systemic. The President puts on a good face but in the end can't even meet deadlines on accreditation paperwork.

Mostly able to teach and complete annual reviews with autonomy.

Cons

Could pay better but it’s a regional university.
