Pros

Supportive Team Environment: The fellow security officers and on-site staff are often great to work with. There's a strong sense of teamwork, and people are generally willing to help each other out, which makes day-to-day tasks much more manageable. . Consistent Schedule: Shifts are generally predictable, which is a major plus for work-life balance. Overtime is available but not usually required, allowing for personal planning. Valuable Experience: This role offers significant experience in a dynamic campus environment, including report writing, de-escalation, and emergency response. It's a great stepping stone for those interested in law enforcement or criminal justice. Campus Resources: As a university employee, you have access to some good resources and a positive atmosphere, interacting with a diverse student body.

Cons

Management Communication: Communication from management can be inconsistent, which sometimes leads to confusion regarding policies or shift changes. More transparency and clearer directives would greatly improve the workflow. Compensation and Benefits: The pay is competitive for the area, but there's a lack of clear pathways for promotion or significant raises. The benefits package could be more comprehensive. Workload and Responsibilities: The job can be demanding, with a large area to patrol. Balancing foot patrols, responding to calls, and administrative tasks like report writing can be challenging, especially during peak times. Lack of Recognition: There is little formal recognition for good performance or extra effort, which can be demotivating over time.

Pros

People are excellent in my dept. Good collabs with other boston universities.

Cons

I was a student over covid. They charged activity fees for services we weren't using, and did not refund us. The administration refuses to accept Grad union terms, unlike most other boston area schools. The administration did indimidate and harass an lgbtq union rep.
