Pros

Personally rewarding to work with children and families and watch their development

Cons

Stagnant leadership: people have been in the same roles for decades, resistant to change and unwilling to modernize. This creates an outdated culture that drags employees down instead of lifting them up. No performance reviews: unbelievably, there is no system for formal feedback or evaluations. Without reviews, there’s no metric for advancement, and as a result everyone just receives the same across-the-board pay increase. Managers avoid individual conversations about compensation, which kills motivation for high performers. Superficial inclusivity: on the surface, the organization presents itself as diverse and welcoming. But internally, the systems and culture reveal deep issues — something you only come to realize after years of working here Workplace culture is demotivating as responsible staff end up carrying the burden. Very limited opportunities for growth, training, or professional development. Partiality and favoritism: unspoken biases around race, background, and culture affect fairness and recognition. Not a place for introverts: the company does not provide a platform or support for quieter personalities, and tends to favor outspoken staff.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. While we’re sorry to hear that your time with us was not as positive as we would hope, we appreciate your honesty and perspective. We understand and take seriously the feedback related to growth, leadership, and organizational culture. Our team has been actively evolving our talent practices over time to better support staff development and engagement. Instead of relying solely on traditional performance reviews, we adopted a Talent Development framework several years ago grounded in the 70-20-10 model — where 70% of learning comes from on-the-job experiences, 20% from coaching and collaboration, and 10% from formal training. This approach is designed to be more employee-centric, continuous, and reflective of how professional growth happens in dynamic, mission-driven environments like ours. We’re also continuing to strengthen structures for regular feedback, recognition, and career development, ensuring that staff at all levels have equitable opportunities to learn and advance. We also take seriously your feedback about inclusion and culture. As a human services organization, we are deeply committed to creating an environment where every employee feels valued, heard, and supported. We continue to evaluate our practices to ensure our culture reflects our mission and values. We value the dedication of those who serve our mission and will continue to learn from all feedback. We wish you continued success in your future endeavors.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the work meaningful and rewarding, and that you felt supported by your colleagues, leadership, and training opportunities. Creating a collaborative and mission-driven environment is very important to us. We also appreciate your candid feedback regarding compensation and caseloads. We recognize that the nature of this work can be demanding, and we continue to actively evaluate caseload distribution to ensure staff are able to provide high-quality, impactful services while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your point about prioritizing quality over quantity is well taken and aligns with our ongoing efforts to strengthen support for both staff and the families we serve. We are continuously advocating for competitive compensation and exploring ways to enhance total rewards for our team. Feedback like yours helps inform these efforts and improvements. Thank you again for your contributions and for the care you brought to the families you supported—we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
