Pros
The office in Mayfair is nice. The fridge is stocked with snacks and drinks. Some of the people are nice.
Cons
Where do I even start? Toxic work culture: Unsupportive management, lack of recognition, and an overall atmosphere of hostility and negativity make the workplace an unpleasant environment. There is a pervasive sense of competition (to be liked by the leadership team) among colleagues rather than collaboration, resulting in high levels of stress and decreased productivity (and people leaving). Inadequate Compensation and Benefits: Salaries are okay for the industry, but if you are coming from outside the wine industry, they are not great. The benefits are minimal. Statuary maternity/paternity leave. 23 days holiday, with 3 having to be saved for Christmas (I don’t even celebrate Christmas, but still must use them for these days?) No career growth: I was told during the interview that there were chances to grow. However, they have failed to provide sufficient opportunities for professional growth and career advancement. There is a lack of mentorship programs, training initiatives, and clear pathways for progression within the company. Everyone is made to do the brand training, but that is about all you get as part of the 'development'. This stagnant work environment can be demotivating for ambitious individuals who seek to expand their skills and knowledge. A huge number of people have left due to this reason, and they keep losing good people. Ineffective Communication: Communication breakdowns plague Nyetimber, with inadequate communication channels and a lack of transparency. SO. MANY.EMAILS. Employees often struggle to receive timely and accurate information from management, leading to confusion and inefficiency in carrying out tasks. This lack of clear and effective communication hampers teamwork and creates a sense of disconnection among employees. Lack of Employee Retention: The revolving door of employees is a constant source of concern. The high staff turnover is indicative of underlying issues within the company. Employees frequently leave their positions, resulting in a perpetual cycle of new hires and departures. This instability not only disrupts workflow but also points to systemic problems that may negatively impact employee morale and the overall work environment. The team was very unstable, and we would see jobs going online that would never be placed, and then told that actually senior management changed their mind (but not the work load).
