Job was not what we discussed during interviews - Software Engineer O'Reilly Auto Parts Employee Review

Pros

Friendly teammates, great managers, large development teams

Cons

New CIO caused panic by threatening to end remote work. He also had a round of layoffs that had never happened before. This job was not the same as what we talked about in the interviews. I joined because I was promised work as a full-stack developer, but actually, I was only working on the old legacy platform. Also, the on-call schedule was very difficult for me. I had to frequently wake up very early for problems and I could not enjoy my weekends when it was my turn. The extra time off awarded for on-call is miniscule for all the stress and for losing sleep and free time on weekends.

Pros

-Always busy -Easy to make sales and extra money off commission and spiffs -Good starter job but need some automotive experience -up date and easy to understand operation system

Cons

-Store managers most of the time are really bad and not fit for their position. -Moving up is not that easy unless you’re liked by upper management -if you’re good at your job you get exploited since your the only dependable person -Overtime (could be good if you’re into grinding but not if you have a family)
