Pros

Really struggling - certain staff are very nice but most arrogant and institutionalized.

Cons

Where do you start! Poor management all the way from the pathetic senior management team down to the puppet/ muppet mid and lower management. It’s a throw back to the Victorian workhouses or a sweat shop in the Far East! The company want their blood. Even told by management we want to make sure we get our ounce of flesh- how is this right in the 21st century. Prides it’s self on being a family company but they hold no family values- no flexibility and no respect. Your expected in the office 8.30 at least for an 8.45 start and expected to stay till 6pm even though it’s a 5.30 finish- if you leave on times it’s seen by management as not committed and not putting the effort in. Micro management to the extreme - managers spending most of their time analyzing diaries checking up on people to ensure that their ounce of flesh is gained! A policy of management being able to talk to staff how they want - it’s not the sweat shops or the slavery days have respect! A pure hire and fire culture- the business says not in all the fake 5 star reviews it posts however since I’ve been here at least 5 new starters have gone within the last 6/9 months- even the new manager brought in has gone after he recruited several new staff. The company hired people leaves them sweating on their 6 month probation- provides no real training or feedback to how your doing until it just says bye with no real reason. They hold an alleged confidential 3 month review although details of this find the way back to management who use any negative comments to beat you with. It is modern day bullying and they have been getting away with it for years! A business they cares not what it sells as long as it sells and sells lots! People their are institutionalised beyond belief and feel that is all they can do. It’s like there brainwashed to constantly doubt themselves and feel like OGL is giving them a chance and that they should feel grateful. Long service awards - what a joke! Silly little pin badges showing how long someone has worked there how pathetic! It’s more a sign saying I’m a moron and I can’t do better for myself. Tin pot structure - tin pot products and service. A cyber offering that probably causes more security risk than alleviates! Cold calling all day every day over and over- what respected business does that in the 21st century. They really think they do you a favour of there being a sandwich run on a Friday where you can order a sandwich and eat it at your desk! Wow amazing thanks OGL for this innovative gesture/ I take back everything above because of the sand which. Grow up. Finally the training- we’ll lack off! It’s basically a beat up session within someone dragging up the 80s and when they could seek snow to an Eskimo telling you how poor you are, what you do wrong, how they could do better etc but actually no real value no real incisive input.

Pros

Watch terrible managers in their natural habitat and learn exactly what not to do when you eventually escape. You'll collect plenty of horror stories and "what not to do" examples for future interviews. Your ego will be regularly crushed by incompetent decisions from above, keeping you very grounded.

Cons

Constant stress, anxiety, and burnout become the norm rather than the exception. Dealing with toxicity, favouritism, gaslighting, and backstabbing. Below-market pay, stingy benefits, or "we're a family" excuses when asking for raises. Good people leave constantly, leaving you with even more work and a revolving door of panicked new hires. An environment that is great for building character and funny war stories, but terrible for your career trajectory, happiness, and long-term well-being.
