I've been a driver out of Leeds / Birstall for almost a year now and can honestly say, the actual job is OK for what you get paid, but i've never known a more depressing, miserable, badly organised company in my life. There is very little cameraderie between the staff, the 'managers' who sit behind 'The Desk' with faces like smacked backsides have little or no interest in any issues you might have, the vans are unhygenic and mostly falling to bits, a lot of the runs you are given are unrealistic, many of the deliveries will be damaged in some way because the super duper hi tech packing system they are so proud of is not fit for purpose, so you will have irate customers to deal with and on top of all this, you are constantly wondering if you will be pulled aside for a disciplinary for breaking one of a hundred ridiculous rules that they have come up with. The turnover of staff is absolutely astounding here and it does nothing for the morale of the ones who are still there, but, lets be honest, will be sacked at some point. Its hard to find anyone who has a good word to say about the place and for anyone considering joining Ocado, i'd say, only go for it as a last resort and if you've exhausted every other option to you. And if you do join, accept that the training they give you will be minimal, take everything they say to you with a big pinch of salt and watch your back, because nobody else there will.
