Office Global Support

Is this your company?

It's a dispatch company - Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) Office Global Support Employee Review

Pros

Look, in terms of dispatch, it's better than most. Some of the horror stories I've read elsewhere don't apply. It's also local to the area so the company knows what is needed in Nagano and responds to that.

Cons

It's also a dispatch company. Salary isn't where it should be and there is a sense that if it came down to you vs the Board of Education, the company would gladly dump to keep its contract.

Pros

The company partners with some great school districts and staff. The job involves real teaching, not acting like a tape recorder for 50 minutes at a time. That's a huge plus, in the ALT business.

Cons

1. The pay is insufficient, and it seems like they know it. One of the perks they talk about when you interview is the ability to hold a part-time job outside the company or work at an English camp over the summer for extra money. 2. Questionable ethics. If the staff decide to replace an ALT, they find a replacement before informing the person being replaced. This is particularly problematic because: A) employees are expected to live in company housing, so being let go also means being evicted, and B) the company has gone so far as to ask applicants to lie about being offered a current ALT's position.

Pros

They don’t prorate your salary. They pay on the better end of the spectrum but beware.

Cons

They lost several contracts. It could happen again.
