Pros

- Great office location and space - Good compensation compared to other roles - Work-Life Balance is good and you are not expected to work out of normal hours - Dogs in the office

Cons

- Senior Management do not respect junior members of staff and make our lives very difficult - People are scared to speak up as they get shouted in front of the whole business - Staff who have been there a long time are very resistant to change as they feel they know best - The business changes direction (with no explanation) very frequently leading to frustration across the business

Pros

Great office location at walking distance from Angel tube station.

Cons

Management does not value loyalty nor hard work. Here today, gone tomorrow. Colleagues are asked to leave without any explanation given. Retention is very low and there is a constant turnaround of new people. As such, you are not afforded job security in the short or long term, and you have no prospect of a meaningful career. The company has very limited real perks, does not offer mentorship or even peer to peer support and development as line managers are too worried about their own job security to back you up. Openness and frank discussions are impossible. You are constantly on edge. The final straw is HR. The latest management has no previous relevant experience, no qualifications or even basic competence. Apart from the CEO, it is clear to everyone that they are completely out of their depth and unfit for the job. Chaotic and unprofessional. The only achievement has been setting in motion a stampede. The morale is now so low that people are seeking to leave in droves.

Thank you for taking the time to share your candid feedback on where we can improve. Retention last year dipped and sometimes when companies, like ours, make an explicit choice to hire quickly, mistakes are made. We acknowledge that some new teammates didn't work out and sometimes we need to let them go if they don't have the right level of skills for our current stage of growth. We’ve taken measures to ensure a better hiring experience, have put in place more thorough vetting of new roles as well as improving our communications and transparency when teammates leave. Regardless, it’s unfortunate to see teammates leave the business but we hope that in your time with Collective you’ve been able to gain some lasting relationships and grow in your career. We’ve been quite proud of rewarding quality work and high effort through well deserved promotions - we’ve celebrated 13 promotions since June last year, and are expecting a number more throughout 2023! We launched a Mentorship program pilot that kicked off last month and expect to roll it out to all employees interested later this year. We’ve sponsored coaching for managers in specific cases and a number of individual contributor teammates have elected to use their L&D budget towards this type of support as well. We’re also kicking off our Manager Community training program next week precisely because we recognize how important this group is to our culture and leadership.. We make the adjustments we believe are right for our team based on the feedback we receive, but this does take time and patience – and we’re committed to getting this right. We’re sorry this didn’t work out for you and wish you the best of luck in your next challenge!
