Pros

Meaningful mission and intellectually stimulating work. Smart, values-driven colleagues and exposure to international stakeholders. High autonomy and a chance to build from zero. Good environment for learning, writing, and strategy.

Cons

Some processes are still maturing. Roles may feel fluid, and coordination across time zones can be challenging.

Pros

Our Common Home could be something incredible and the ethos is good . Salaries are very high. Fully remote. Fairly nice and well-educated people.

Cons

As an NGO, staff members, particularly senior leadership, are vastly over paid for how little actual results have been achieved. I do not think an audit would reflect well on them. The company has been running for four years and during that time there has been little success. Most funding is private and from the US and as much as I understand the pitch to be appealing - support conservative communities in the fight for environmental conservatism, the reality is that this is executed poorly and it seems the first appointment of funds is ridiculously high salaries for senior leadership. There are little to processes or structures in place to define success at OCH or the communities they support. They support conservative communities through their work so you essentially must be conservative to work here. I have concern over the politics involved. Senior staff come from political backgrounds and I have reason for distrust here.
