Pros
Consistent paycheck, free hats. Low hanging fruit for process-oriented people (ie if you can get buy in on changing things [you won’t], there’s a ton of stuff you can easily improve) So unimaginatively and ineffectively run that they’re practically begging someone to come along and steal the business model and easily manage people/processes better.
Cons
Low pay, poor benefits, change-adverse, old school management mentality. After proving our mettle running more effectively during remote work, our team was called back in because our bored and unimaginative leadership were lonely. After being back in the office for over a year, I was never in an in-person meeting again. The office mood is a complete joke. Super Christian, straight, and white, the culture at Outdoor Cap is sad and super depressing. If you’re in any department save Sales, prepare to feel inferior. Sales actually dictates to Creative how to do their job. It’s so insane to me that a company wouldn’t utilize the their talent, but this pretty much says all you need to know about management and the culture. I blame an unimaginative leadership team and a culture of bland sameness. Lots of great talent here in Creative and Product Development. Leadership’s head in sand approach to HR will lead to these people leaving Outdoor Cap. Working at Outdoor Cap is like cosplaying at a business in the 90s. Systems and processes are ignored or outdated, enterprise software is insanely inefficient
