Outreach, Inc. Response
10yThank you for taking the time to voice your concerns. I would be more than happy to sit down with you personally and hear your concerns and do whatever is possible to address them. I'm especially interested in knowing more about false promises that were made. Send me an email if you would like to talk.
You mention a survey that we made you take. Two years ago we allowed employees to voluntarily participate in the Best Christian Workplace survey. Why did we do this? We did it because we care about our employees, our culture and getting better. The results of that survey came back with an average score amongst all organizations who took the survey - not good enough! We listened to the feedback from our team members and made many changes and investments in 2015. We increased our communication and feedback opportunities with employees. We provided more opportunities for learning, growth and promotion. We invested in more employee benefits and we set aside a larger percentage of our profits for raises and investing back into our team. To encourage fun at work we invested in ping pong tables, Free Food Fridays in the summer and an adventure check out program where employees can check out kayaks, paddle boards, Go Pro's, tents and other equipment. This January our employees voluntarily took the survey again (96% participation) and our employees scored Outreach as a Best Christian Workplace and we ranked near the top of all companies surveyed. I was humbled by the result, but determined to continue to grow and make Outreach even better.
You voiced a concern about pay. We use national and local salary surveys to make sure we are paying market rates. In January, we gave everyone above market increases and added new employee benefits such as short term disability. Two years ago we decided to cover 100% of our employees health insurance costs and this year we again covered a $100K increase in health insurance premiums for our team members. For 2016 we committed to investing 1/3 of all our 2015 after tax profits into raises and increased benefits. Why? Because we care about our team.
We did have a management change in the Production department recently, but I have heard nothing but positive feedback from team members in that department. I personally spoke with the new manager and he not only walks around daily getting input and listening, but he shared several instances of changes that have been made because of team member input. I hope you will share any concerns you have with your new manager as I know he is ready to listen.
You mention problems between departments, spoiled work and lost efficiency. January 1st we launched our new web to print technology which has increased production efficiencies and lowered prices for our customers. We are in the midst of our busiest season (Easter) and not only are we seeing record orders, but because production is running so efficiently we are accepting more rush orders. If you still have concerns, I hope you will share them with your manager or schedule a time to share with me. We are ready to listen.
