Pros

PLS gives you the freedom to build your own book of business, but the guidance and leadership to never leave you feeling stranded. You go through a week of full, hands-on, classroom training on logistics/the industry/their systems. After that you spend 3 full months working on a Senior Account Executives book of business learning how to run the book, negotiate, deal with customers, etc. After that you have another 2+ weeks of sales training before you actually begin sales. You are a full fledged logistics expert when you pick up the phone to make your first phone call, and then you have a GSM sitting literally right next to you to help you along the 12-16 month journey to "roll out" and become fully commissionable. Make no mistake, it is a grueling job that requires long hours, 100-150 phone calls a day, and a legitimate obsession to be successful if you want to make it, but the reward is WELL worth it. There are 25 year olds making 6-figures here after 2 years of work, and every single manager started off the same way: bottom of the totem pole (if you will) as a trainee for a Sr. Account Executive. Most of the people who end up leaving here with sour grapes were told all of this during these same things their first day here, yet continue to be late, leave early, make 40-60 calls a day, and just sort of go through the motions. If you want to be great here, anyone can, regardless of your previous experience/education. Environment is also great for the job, as it's many young professionals who are extremely energetic and excitable, competitive, but also very friendly and team-oriented.

Cons

Not your typical 9-5, the great ones are normally here 7-5, sometimes later. Being the third party, you are relied on to resolve the situations that many times you didn't necessarily cause, but thats just about any job that has customer service involved in it. IT department needs to be revamped. The sales team, front office, and managers are all great, but fixing the IT issues that pop up from time to time can sometimes be very time-consuming, which takes the sales team away from doing what they do best: making that money!!

Pros

The Colleagues and relationships you make with your co-workers. Building a book of business, and fast paced environment. Unlimited Growth Potential.

Cons

The direction the company is headed in and the toxicity of an everchanging management structure. As someone who spent almost a decade with PLS; I can say fully and honestly, they do not care about you. This is a company to build experience with and move on from. If you are a $20K rep for more than 6 months, after you roll out, they will move off of you. You will be terminated with no second thought--other reps will poach your clients and potentially ruin any relationships. Furthermore, management tends to play favorites--If you show growth potential, they will feed you, but the moment you fail on one opportunity--you will be turned over. This is not the job for anyone who questions their own ability and work ethic. PLS Hires in classes - they will hire 30-40 people at a time, and in 3 months, 4 to 5 people of that class will remain. The turn over is extremely high and there is no job security. Finally, even if you are a top performer, they will not hesitate to get rid of you.
