Pros
The initial recruiter was friendly and seemed enthusiastic about my application.
The office location in Sheffield is convenient.
Cons
Misleading Job Description: The role was advertised as an entry-level legal assistant/paralegal position, but during the interview, it became clear they were looking for someone with experience, even though the pay was barely national minimum. This was not mentioned in the job description or during the initial screening call.
Unprofessional Interview Panel: The interviewers did not have a legal background or university degrees, which made it difficult for them to understand my qualifications (LLB, LPC LLM). They also spoke negatively about the company during the interview, which was unprofessional and concerning.
Irrelevant Questions: Despite the role being entry-level, I was asked questions suited for an experienced paralegal. This mismatch between the job description and the interview process was frustrating and unfair.
Poor Communication: After the interview, I received two generic rejection emails from different people, four weeks apart. No feedback was provided, which made the process feel dismissive and unprofessional.
Team Issues: The interview panel mentioned that the team lacked a legal foundation and was “learning on the job,” which caused tension with clients. This raises serious concerns about the company’s training and support for staff.
Advice to Future Applicants:
Be cautious when applying for roles at this company. The job description may not accurately reflect the role or the experience required.
Prepare for an interview process that may feel unprofessional and disorganised.
If you’re looking for a supportive and well-structured legal environment, this may not be the right place for you.
