Pros

POWER is a great company to work for. Overall company culture is very layed back and casual which is different from most engineering consulting firms. Pay is not as high as most consulting firms but fair for the positions. Upper management is fairly accessible if you put in the work to network and get to know people. Insurance coverage is great and reasonably priced. Allow for hybrid or fully remote work in most positions. Good work life balance.

Cons

As with any consulting firm, work comes and goes. POWER doesn't typically lay people off but it's not uncommon to be without work for weeks or months if contracts fall through. 401k match could be better, only 3%. 3 weeks of vacation if you have been with the company 2 years or more which isn't bad but it's based on an accrual system so takes a full year to accrue that 3 weeks.

Pros

Was a genuinely great place to work. Great people and great culture. It was worth the slightly-lower-than-average pay because work life balance and benefits were great. I enjoyed going to work every day.

Cons

Poor financial decisions from upper management regarding the shareholder program led to the company's demise. Upper management sold out to WSP. Management made millions while long time employees got zilch. As someone else had mentioned, retention bonuses were unfairly distributed. Most people didn't get any retention bonus even if they had been long time employees of the company. It really felt like everyone who wasn't upper management got stabbed in the back. They got their payout then dumped the company. Still stings to this day.
