Pros

Nice work environment with lots of flexibility to accommodate employee needs.

Cons

Currently the company is heavily focused on profit projects pushing all upgrades and R&D to the side. This had lead to some software becoming outdated or obsolete. There's also been some staff reductions that are started to impact teams.

Pros

-Railroad benefits, such as retirement. -A subsidiary of Union Pacific, so we get a full benefits package. -Can be a good place to move, but that can be political. -Can be a good place to learn a variety of skills. They will move you around and allow you to try new things. But see below

Cons

-More and more it seems like we are pulling away from UP, which means we can/will loose those benefits. Most important is railroad retirement. -Current executive leadership is very micro, while trying to portray macro leadership styles. -Some groups do not listen well to customers, so a lot of rework. -I have been moved to a position I did not have in my career path, I have seen it happen to many others as well. This is not an issue of comfort level, this is a completely different type of career path than what I had desired. All without first discussing it with me and this has been the same with others. -Poor overall leadership, though out the company. Poor communication as well. But it starts from the top. And the top has been very fluid, which might contribute to the issue. -Pay drastically varies from office to office. Often management relies on railroad benefits as leverage. But there is no guarantee that those benefits are going to be in place though out ones entire career and a retirement package doesn't buy groceries tomorrow. -Morale and confidence in leadership is very low in some groups. Many people are open to leaving, or actively trying to leave.
