Pros
Most of the lower-level workers are friendly and there’s a good feeling of team camaraderie. Sometimes the company would buy us lunch (mostly pizza) or breakfast. Sometimes we had 4 o’ clock Fridays.
Cons
I’m not sure where to start with this place... I was originally in one department, then got moved to another. I wasn’t really given a choice, but was happy to help wherever I could. The new manager was sweet but had worked in the department for only a little while, so I had to rely on my other co-workers whenever I needed help, which was often. There was not enough training in the new department. They’d gone through multiple managers, and it seemed like the turnover was really high for both management and general processors. (I actually went through three managers in the short time I was there.) Most of my coworkers were extremely frustrated with It all and working extra hours every day to keep the department afloat. After I’d been there a week or two, one of my coworkers warned me about the CEO... I soon saw why. He’s vitriolic and homophobic. I’ve heard him yell at a manager in front of all her employees more than once. I hope he knows how that makes him appear to everyone else who works there. I’m very glad that I’ll never have to hear his voice ever again. The company was bought out shortly before I arrived, but we were instructed to not tell our clients about it. It felt wrong on many levels to hide this information. There are/were many employees who had been at the company for years, and none of them felt good about the merge or about the direction the company is/was headed. I haven’t heard anything good about it since I’ve left. Additionally, I had a really poor experience getting my manager to understand my health issues. I was frequently pulled aside and/or berated about going to doctors appointments, etc. when I have a documented health issue that has been ongoing for years (and that I was upfront about in my initial interview). They were understanding at first, but quickly started to guilt me for leaving for appointments, even when I made up the time. I could tell that they weren’t keeping the information personal, either, as it seemed like all of my coworkers knew about everything I was going through. It was very disrespectful and a humiliating experience to know that my personal issues were being spread throughout the team. I’m glad I left when I did. It’s a very stressful, and even toxic, work environment, with too much work and a worker base that is exhausted and angry.
