Pros
One free meal/ donuts to take home on occasion. Somewhat flexible hours. 15 minute breaks on the clock but managers don't pay attention, Ive had coworkers disappear for an hour.
Cons
Initially hired as supervising barista. Months in the manager started to have me order products weekly- which was HER job. Only managers do ordering/inventory. I asked for clarification because job descriptions were not making sense to me and said "ok" when given their nothing excuses. Later i was told i was "unwilling" to do my job.
You will leave covered in donut smoke every single day. Extremely poor ventilation, my eyes would start burning if spent too much time in the back kitchen, where some people would have to work for 9+ hours.
There is no break room. you'll be expected to leave your things in an unsecured hallway from which people have been robbed.
I was expected to handle the work of two baristas at once, on top of managing. The owner told me construction would happen to give us more space to even have a second person to assist and the proper tools and surfaces to do the dang thing and it never happened. I was expected to push on for hours on end at a job I knew I could do much more efficiently if the manager and owner did what they said they would. I suspect lead barista is still drowning under the workload.
