I recently had the unfortunate experience of working at Penumbra and I must say that I was thoroughly disappointed with their vacation policies and the micromanagement prevalent in the workplace. The company's approach to time off and their controlling management style left much to be desired. One of the major issues I encountered was the arbitrary practice of deducting vacation hours when employees had exhausted their sick time. It's understandable for a company to have a policy to manage absenteeism effectively, but penalizing employees by taking away their hard-earned vacation hours while adding points to the attendance policy when they're genuinely unwell seemed unreasonable.This policy not only created an atmosphere of fear and reluctance among employees to take sick days, but it also undermined the importance of work-life balance and employee well-being. Moreover, the micromanagement culture at Penumbra was stifling and counterproductive. The constant need for supervisors to closely monitor every aspect of their employees' work created an environment that lacked trust and autonomy. Employees felt like they were constantly under a microscope, which not only hindered creativity and innovation but also had a detrimental impact on overall job satisfaction and morale. The lack of trust and autonomy within the company resulted in employees feeling undervalued and disengaged. It is crucial for a healthy work environment that employees are trusted to carry out their responsibilities without being micromanaged at every turn.
