Pros

Zero layoffs, can stay for the rest of your life, good medical, good retirement plan options (457b is a big plus), pay was historically low but that has since been corrected, not for profit, does good for the community, a safety net for the poor, cleanest of all the fossil fuel industries, fair to their employees, Compressed Work Week offerings, great for people who love the city and all it has to offer.

Cons

The mandate to live in the city is difficult for non-city people and for people looking to build a family and send their kids to a good public school, non-uniform benefits as newer employees lose or have watered down options, has historically failed to properly utilize and allow work from home options (This may change post COVID), strict limitations of Compressed Work Week, time clocks on all employees with little flexibility on schedules, undersized and under budgeted IT group for a company this size, many manual and inefficient work practices, lacking benefits menu to spend the dollars as you would prefer and too low of cash incentive for opting out.

Pros

Easy work guaranteed 40 hours a week great benefits no lay offs pension 457 or 401k paid sick days holidays and vacation days

Cons

You get penalized for using sick days to easy to lose progressions in the summer time the higher up have less work so they micromanage everything you do new rules are constantly being added it’s not a real union the union works for Pgw so it’s a conflict of interest when it comes time for them to defend you the company always puts the blame on you if they can never find a conclusive answer to a problem
