Pros
Great company culture, great team, and a great mission. It's a small team, so we are very tight-knit and do a ton of activities together (happy hour, volunteering, fantasy football, book club, etc). It's a startup, so all employees are given a lot of responsibility and ownership, and everyone wears a lot of hats in an effort to help the Company grow as a whole. Expectations are high for everyone, and because of this I constantly feel like I'm growing and learning.
Base salary, bonus structure, and benefits are very competitive for NYC. Management really incentivizes performance, and there are rewards for different quarterly and monthly sales competitions like "3 days off and $2,000 to the person with the top average sales for Q3".
I really like all of my coworkers and it's a relatively 'lax atmosphere as long as you are hitting your goals and working hard. We are selling renewable energy supply, so it's nice to remember that my work helps the greater good as well.
Cons
- Phoenix is still a relatively new company, and has hired most of their employees in the last 6 months. Because of that, there have been a few growing pains in terms of systems and communication. However, management has been receptive to feedback and has made some improvements to better streamline processes. It's a work in progress, but when you work at a startup you need to be flexible and adaptable; if you lack those qualities, then this is not the place for you.
- The Energy industry is getting increasingly competitive in New York. If you aren't entrepreneurial, self-motivated and good at sales, you will probably not do well here.
