Pros

The only Pros I have are the lads I work with make the whole experience positive.

Cons

1. No concern for staff welfare, I've done 12+ hour shifts with only a 15 minute break (unpaid) in a busy environment with no staff facilities meaning in those 15 minutes I had to walk to a tesco nearby, get served (it was very busy) find somewhere to eat where I couldn't be seen (Steve Howe doesnt like seeing staff sitting in public areas having their lunch, Eat lunch and return to post. However this is only if the supervisors on site have acutally arranged for breaks, often this gets overlooked meaning no breaks are done because there isn't anyone to cover positions (supervisors are too good for covering positions) 2. Lucky enough to get 2 shifts in one day! great, you finish shift A at 11pm and start Shift B at 11pm!, (travel times not included, neither is the time to actually clear the venue and complete any paperwork before leaving shift A). 3. Too many incompetant or unsuitable staff employed, I recently completed a large capacity event expecting around 25,000 attendees and an alarming amount of event stewards from the Events team were filling in employment paperwork... I can't imagine they were vetted or interviewed appropriately before hand. 4. Qauntity over qaulity hiring process, when I applied for the role I was called for interview which consisted filling in my bank details, signing a contract and getting my uniform, they didnt ask about myself or my experience. this attitude has resulted in some very potentially dangerous situations on a number of occassasions. 5. No training or guidence given, I was fortunate enough to have been provided with training from a former employer with recognising overcrowding which included overcrowding relief, when I was working at a large capacity nightclub event during Freshers 2016 I literally had to beg the head doorman to stop letting people into the club so they could be dispersed away from the stairs where a crush was forming and resulted in a number of minor injuries such as bruising. I was given a "do not return notice" for that particular venue because of my insubordination towards the head doorman... 6. There's no consequences for being late, walking off a site or otherwise being poorly behaved. All too often I hear tales of staff walking offsite or not turning up and the only resulting action is a bit of a bollocking. I know one guy who has been sacked at least 4 times (permanently banned from working at McDonalds in the NE of England) and recently turned up for a shift after being rehired (Qauntity over Qaulity)
