Easy in, easy out - Customer Service Representative PlusOne Communications Employee Review

Pros

Opportunity for promotion, especially if you are friends with someone who is already a supervisor or higher position (non-customer service rep). They claim to offer flexible scheduling but it is extremely difficult to get schedules changed at this 24/7 facility, and new people always get stuck with unfortunate late night shifts. Decent starting pay ($9/hr), although they claim the average call center rep makes over $12.50/hr which is simply not true.

Cons

Micromanagement is key here. Things change overnight and you are expected to just roll with it. Some shady business as well - policies will change without properly informing employees, then the employees are held accountable despite never having been fully informed of the changes, then management will sneak out a company email referencing a 'reminder' of a policy change from months back that was never announced. Employees are constantly getting swindled out of bonuses (they announced a change to the bonus plan AFTER the end of the month the bonus was earned, and expected employees to just be ok with it). It is easy to get a job there because they are desperate for call center reps (as they have gone though 2/3 of the folks in Akron by now), but be warned - you can just as quickly get fired from here as you are hired. This place is just bad news altogether.

Pros

Ummmm....Easy location to get to?

Cons

- Constant change among leadership at a supervisor level - Management has no respect for anyone, they treat you like children - Tenure means nothing - You have to ask PERMISSION to use the restroom - High pressure sales environment in a "Tech Support" role - All the supervisors are always depressed because of childish management - High turnover - Insane and unfair points system, they bend the rules if you are a good seller. Works management and supervisors thin, they all work 50+ hours and get paid garbage but the upper management team thinks its great pay. You actually take a pay cut if you want to be a supervisor and that's not even factoring in the extra hours your work. - Unreal expectations - Super quick training, they do it in half the time their client does it. - Unprofessional environment - Prepare to be talked down to. - They don't coach employee's to get better, supervisors just but something in your file because they are required to daily, but they don't actually talk to you. Deviations count against your accruing PTO...that's right, if THEY send you home it effects your ability to earn PTO. - In a ghetto area, peoples cars get broken into, constantly homeless people walking through the parking lot. - They literally hire anyone because so many people quit, so you have a lot of shady colleagues. - They brag about their health insurance, its 20% a month of your check AFTER taxes - and thats for the base package and if you are single with no dependents. - You are required to work late at night and weekends.
