The overall atmosphere at Powens is excellent. The company has a strong culture, and I had the opportunity to work with talented professionals across many teams. I am leaving with great colleagues. The compensation is competitive, and management has been supportive throughout my time at the company.
Cons
The major issue with this company lies exclusively within its Infrastructure / DevOps team. There is a deeply toxic micro-climate dominated by a couple of senior profiles who enforce a strict culture of "gatekeeping" (hoarding information and maintaining absolute control).
If you are hired for a leadership, "Owner", or security role, be prepared to be actively prevented from exercising your duties. Critical information is deliberately withheld, initiatives are systematically blocked due to ego-driven roadblocks, and there is destructive micromanagement. Instead of operating as a unified team, you face an environment of professional isolation where new members are treated with condescension if they try to propose standard industry improvements. It is a hostile environment that quickly burns out valuable technical professionals.
