In my opinion, there is no advancement here unless you are friends with the higher ups. It is not a meritocracy. In my opinion, it’s nepotism at best and a straight up transaction (infer from that what you will) at worst. Undue stress will be placed on over achievers who are good at their jobs to support underachievers who are in the boys club of leadership.
The office is also weirdly politically charged and there is a huge lack of diversity which I think is incredibly unprofessional. Not that there’s much professionalism to begin with.
