Pros
-There are some talented peers and caregivers here. -Flex time off for senior leaders is a nice design even though none of the leaders can make use of it. -Some caregivers, mostly clinicians, practice the mission and values in their daily work. -Gym in Renton is nice. Other places not so much. -HQ is located in a semi-convenient commute location as compared with dense downtown locations with other local corporate giants.
Cons
-Careful taking a position here in 2019 or beyond. Plenty of layoffs and reduction in force are happening and planned as the system progresses through the next strategic plan. Don't quit that other organization just yet unless you're taking a critical patient facing position. -Core values for top executives are simple window-dressing values with lip service from the top down. These values have little discernible impact on either how Providence caregivers behave or how the organization operates. Most line caregivers are unfortunately sharing this lack a resonance with the mission and values as many are smart enough to see this lip service for what it is. -Poor strategy and execution from top leaders in the system resulting in poor performance. Providence can't sustain the current margins so drastic changes will be in the future for Providence for years to come. -Company is still struggling through the merger with St. Joseph Health with little benefit seen to either. -Compensation is still very much on the low end to at most, mid-market. This is attributed of course to the non-profit status, but don't believe that for one minute. We are absolutely a for-profit organization hiding behind our tax status. -Work/life balance is more akin to say Amazon. Expect 60+ hour work weeks to stay caught up, let alone get ahead around here. -Talented workers don't stay for long. See above for a few reasons. Many of us are actively looking. -Most shared service functions are ineffective and their design contributes to a lack of accountability at all levels of the organization.
