Pros

Poor management would not recommend

Cons

Working at Publix was stressful and disappointing. There is little to no flexibility with scheduling, even for part-time employees. Requests for specific days off are often ignored, and there is no real work-life balance. Management shows clear favoritism, giving the best shifts and opportunities to a select few while others are constantly overworked and overlooked. The workload is heavy, expectations are unrealistic, and the store is often short-staffed. Instead of support, you’re met with micromanagement and blame. Communication is poor, and upper management rarely listens to staff concerns. The environment can feel toxic, especially when favoritism creates tension between coworkers. While the pay and benefits might seem decent at first, the overall culture makes it hard to stay. Morale is low, turnover is high, and it feels like management cares more about appearances than their employees’ well-being. I wouldn’t recommend working here unless you’re desperate for a paycheck and don’t mind sacrificing your mental health.

Pros

Good compensation including not just standard pay, but also end of year bonus 80 hours for hourly associates, 8% of your annual earnings granted to you in free company stock thru which quarterly dividends are paid, ok 401k, and gift card and other associate coupons. Good stability and growth. Good company culture.

Cons

Can be slow and resistant to change. Uses some antiquated systems and software that should have been replaced years ago. Does some things that don't make sense. Some managers can be good, while others not very good. Although these cons may be true for a lot of companies. All roads eventually lead to Lakeland where they are headquartered. Geography can be a big one if you are not a Florida native. If you don't want to live in Florida for some legitimate reasons, there can be limited job options in other states, especially if you aren't interested in retail or warehouse jobs. Standard retail negatives about not having a lot of holidays off.
