Pros

Good business model if they would just work smarter not harder at running the business.

Cons

Where should I begin? The entire Executive staff with exception of maybe one person should be removed from their positions. They are completely incompetent and unable to see past their own interests. I have personally witnessed the CEO falling asleep in meetings. Mr. CEO, if you aren't interested in the business then maybe you shouldn't be running it. COO shouldn't be running technology initiatives and is completely out of his league. <Enter the botched website launch here> CRO...what is that again? Oh! An attempt to make someone relevant that wasn't knowledgeable of marketing so you just change her title. I could go on and on but why bother. You get the idea. Someone stated this already in a previous review, but the positive reviews that were posted starting towards the end of 2013 were forced by the Executive staff. Way to go!! Rather than just fix the issues with Executive and Senior Management, let's just force employees to falsify reviews on Glassdoor by issuing threats! Favoritism is deeply rooted within this company! If you want to get a promotions just steal credit from those around you, bad mouth your direct reports to those above you and otherwise attempt to make everyone that is a threat to your lack of intelligence look incompetent. That will put you on a fast track to a promotion with this company! In the years that I worked there, I can't tell you how many times I saw good employees overlooked because of a Senior Manager or VP playing favorites. A healthy blend of favoritism, cronyism and racism drives this behaviour. Have you ever seen anyone drive nails into a coffin while laying in the coffin? Ta daaah!! This company manages to do that magic trick easily! It is its own worst enemy. No need to worry about competitors catching up, because Executive and Senior Management will run it into the ground first. Its unfortunate, really! There are a lot of good people that work there that will never get what they deserve, because they actually do their work rather than step on the backs of others. Good product! Poorly managed company! Incompetent C-level managers and VPs! Fake culture! Rockbridge please take note! Advice: RUN, don't walk away from this company! I'm glad I got out!

Purchasing Power, LLC Response

Thank you for your feedback and candid assessment of your tenure here at Purchasing Power. We have certainly come a long way since opening our doors in 2001; as with any startup, the road has been rocky at times but that is expected for any journey worth taking. As of January 31, 2014, our headcount stands at over 200 employees with 70% of our team having less than 3 years tenure with the company. This comes as no surprise as we were recognized as a fastest-growing company on the Inc. 5000 list for the sixth consecutive year, and earned an Atlanta Business Chronicle Pacesetter Award for the fifth consecutive year. Most recently, we were named by Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the 25 Atlanta startups to watch. Since 2010, we’ve focused on the stage of our business where we are adding specialists to our team. This has resulted in additions at all levels; specialists who come to the table with the deep expertise necessary for our company to continue to develop and grow by introducing best practices and innovative approaches. Unfortunately, evolution and transformation requires a level of change that results in some employees not completing the journey with us. Nevertheless, we appreciate every employee’s contributions regardless of when and for how long they participated in this effort. Thanks again for your commitment and hard work over your 3 year tenure with Purchasing Power.

Pros

Great people who work very well together. Lots of great tenure which creates ample opportunities to learn from experts. The now former CEO (Trey) is a genuinely nice person who takes every opportunity to engage with people at all levels. Most people are very easy to work and collaborate with. People are always willing to help.

Cons

Very heavy workloads that are not sustainable long term, it's challenging to be effective and strategic in your role when competing projects/tasks consistently pull you in various directions. The organization thrives in chaos which can be difficult to acclimate if you are accustomed to getting things done as there is little to no time to focus to actually execute. There are countless hours/days spent on tasks or unmeaningful work, often repeat work that consumes your time that leave you absolutely drained at the end of the day. The level of micro management and task delegation is something like I've never experienced.
