Pros

There are many work conventions at Purolator, I mostly know the work from the clerical point of view in the Province of Quebec. The interview process is straightforward and transparent. They give you tests and they told you about it before you came for the interview. You only get interviewed if you succeed to the tests. Exemple tests: Geography, english/french translation. Good salaries vs the aptitudes required for the job. Stable work hours in the administration and call center departments. Call center work in Montreal is 99.5% during daytime on week days. That's quite rare. Good work conventions with sick days and medical benefits.

Cons

Very unstable hours and schedules for drivers and sorters. Some very good but also some very bad managers running unchecked. Especially the managers of remote employees in smaller locations. Adding to that, work in drop off location is hard due to upset customers and physically demanding. Your manager is not on site to help deal with violent/ angered customers. Customer service employees in remote locations are often alone for extended periods. Some managers make no effort to get rid of bad apples due to the rigidity of the work convention. This leads to having slackers who have been there for 10 years+ who have done most departments because they change as soon as their manager starts building a file to fire them and it seems the files aren't passed on to the next manager. Also, while there are possibilities for advancement in some departments (like operations and sales) other departments have lately been firing many managers and other seniors so the possibilities there are abysmal.

Pros

None. Literally nothing. It’s a joke of a company.

Cons

Zero training, accountability, support, diversity, planning, or management. You watch HR spew word vomit that they’re available to support you, but if you speak up to them or any management your job is threatened. HR, upper management, and other departments are allowed to bully people with no reprimand. There is constant retaliation against anyone that has a difference in opinion, even though HR will tell you “That’s not tolerated and shouldn’t happen!” Petty, cliquey, drama filled work place. Teams take turns choosing a target and tearing them down until they leave. The technology and project management of every single department, let alone company wide roll outs are ATROCIOUS! There’s no support from any department and they will badger and bully you to get what they want. Any extra work that they can’t place gets dropped to the lowest man on the totem pole with no incentive or pay increase and if they speak up, they are told “money doesn’t create happiness” They treat people like slave labor. You will be contacted outside of working hours with no compensation, they can’t plan travel with ample time and notice, but will expect you to drop your whole life to accommodate them. Onboarding and offboarding are a joke! There isn’t a single ounce of training, there’s a bunch of outdated links and videos, and you’re thrown in while basically being told “sink or swim” God forbid you ask for training, you’ll be forced to prove a business case for it. HR, upper management, departments that feel they’re superior are allowed to speak to employees like they’re the scum of the earth and bully them on a regular basis to get what they want, how they want it. It is full of people who talk out both sides of their mouths. They preach about wellness, DEI, women in logistics….. but the second any of that is used to support your position you will be torn apart, targeted and pushed out. There’s no room for growth, there’s no support for growth, this is a dead end company. Save yourself the headache and distress, work elsewhere. The picture they paint is a fallacy.
