Pros
- Absolutely stunning location with plenty of shops nearby. - Majority of the employees are decent, down-to-earth people.
Cons
The company is one disorganised mess, with no HR in place and little to no procedural structure in ANY department whatsoever. Majority of these issues stems from the awful leadership from the man at the top of the company. He runs each department with an iron fist even if he has no expertise in it and with no regard to the opinions of others. The workplace environment is similar to that of a communist regime whereby those who are not "loyal" to said regime (i.e grovelling at his feet and being a yes-man to all of his ideas) are inevitably treated horrendously and/or fired. As a result, he has successfully created an environment of distrust and paranoia as any employee can be an informant to him in order to gain "special privileges" . In addition to this horrifying fact, competency is the least-valued trait as it can appear to be a threat to the current leadership and is usually therefore discouraged. As a result of his actions and the workplace culture that he has encouraged, he has successfully lost half of the employees who use to be in the company, and that is only in the one year I was there. To keep it brief, I shall list the remaining actions he has committed while I was there: - Sent a childish email in all capitals to the entire dev team as a response to a professional email sent by one of them suggesting an alternative idea. - Fired the majority of the old development team because he did not like them. - Forced the entire old project management team to quit due to his unprofessional, unpredictable and childlike behaviour. - "Unfired" an incompetent employee who remained sycophantic to him. - Treated employees poorly when they attended an ex-colleagues' leaving party, one that he personally fell out with.
