Pros

This is a review of their San Juan Company: If you're looking for ENTRY LEVEL lab experience for many different testing types it is experience. We all know lab experience is hard to come by and this is hands on in a lab experience. However - never let them push you into working off the clock. Luckily it was never asked of me.

Cons

Again, this is a review of the SAN JUAN CA location from the end of last year (there could have been incremental improvements): 1. Your direct manager/supervisor is supposed to be your go-to (one stop shop) for everything (Payroll/HR/IT Requests). However, since the integration did not include an orientation or training for ANYONE -- it is the blind leading the blind. 2. The managers/Supervisors ill trained and ill equipped to handle leadership; even after their "Training." Be prepared to be in the dark until something has either gone incorrectly or is needed right away. At that point, the story is piece-meal and the "Just sign here" mentality is strong. Be prepared never to question the Director’s if you do not have a doctorate degree – your experience and expertise mean nothing; stay in your box and do not think above your station. 3. Payroll -- is it ever correct? No -- (For hourly) somehow, you are a mix of salary and hourly. Your OT does not show up for two pay periods. Keep Records. Case in point: They sent out incorrect W2's this year; it is Feb 26 and I am still waiting on an updated one. 4. Logical Hierarchy -- Since this location was not well integrated: there were no promotions for two years because, “there was no money to pay them.” Which has led to a complete lack of "Middle Management" or any hierarchy. All positions where there is a delineation from a 1-# is doing tasks of a 1 and of the higher steps without the training or the pay. 5. Disjointed locations – This one will never change; the lab is in different spots on the campus. It creates cliques of people and management being geographically broken apart from some of the laboratory systems. The conference rooms are sometimes a 10 minute walk from each other. 6. No Career growth - There is very little opportunity to move up from a mid-level job. Also, if you do manage to be promoted in the lab; the money is not worth it. The increase in pay does not reflect the increase in stress and responsibility.

Pros

Exceptional career growth opportunities, great co-workers, management very supportive, attractive benefit options, everyone open to questions from the newbie and have been very helpful in pointing me in the right direction.

Cons

It's a very large corporation, easy to get lost in the online help/resources systems.
