Pros
Fair wage. Adequate breaks. Got on very well with co-workers. Building disabled adapted, though lift often broken down.
Cons
New CEO, lots of territorial corner widdling and those higher up the food chain trying to impress the new boss, Those of us at the sharp end given no information. Awful hours. day staff can be in any time between 6am and 11.30pm. the changing of shifts doesn't allow for you to adjust. No team mentality. Inadequate meetings. No rights for anyone on probation. A number of staff sacked with no warning and issued with letters which did not accurately represent the reasons for our being let go. I've never been sacked in my working life before. I didn't deserve to be sacked this time. The manager who held my "probationary meeting" stated that there was no doubt that my reasons for absence were genuine. I was sacked anyway. I was not the worst treated by a long chalk. Nowhere in our contracts ( pretty much unabsorbent loo roll) or in any previous meetings were we warned of summary dismissal for absence, which includes sick leave, requested unpaid leave for family emergencies and any other occasion when you are not in your seat. Staff scared to lose jobs came in sick, toilets frequently stank of vomit, one toilet closed for 3 days until a specialist cleaning team could remove the faeces left all over the toilet. this is short sighted. More staff get sick as a result.
