More cons than pros, but it’s great working with kids - Social Worker Rady Children's Hospital Employee Review

Pros

Population is great, working with children and families is highly rewarding, collaboration with outside organizations is beneficial if you have the opportunity to network in your role. Some of the teams are extremely collaborative and supportive!

Cons

Social work department is primarily toxic, condescending, and territorial. Multiple people have been bullied out over the years. Pay is low compared to Sharp and Scripps, annual raises are much lower than Sharp and Scripps (2.25/2.5 vs 4ish%), market adjustments don’t kick in until you’ve been there 2.5 years (despite inflation and bills going up within that time), and your PTO will all go to holidays.
