Pros
Meaningful work that saves lives, with great opportunities to work on state-of-the-art aerospace systems, apply domain knowledge, and experience industry from within the guys of an aerospace titan.
Cons
Management is supportive, but doesn’t communicate well. It is topdown and old fashion and somewhat disorganized (goals change very often and quickly). The pay is low and the benefits are subpar. The high sign-on bonus can be alluring, but the total package is not worth it (3% retirement contributions with yearly raises that don’t even match inflation). The opportunity cost of is huge. The gray-cubicle work environment can be a little depressing too. There’s also not much going on for building a sense of belonging, especially in the age of WFH. It can be lonely depending on where you end up. The relocation package is okay but beware: the cost of living in Tucson has gone up exponentially since COVID. It’s not cheap to own a home there or rent anymore. Employees are replaceable! There’s not much retention effort despite feedback. Turn around is VERY high. IT is prehistoric. It’s astonishing.
