Pros

The work that ReSurge is doing around the world is incredibly impactful, and you really feel that you are part of a team that is making a difference for people around the world. The organization has an approach that focuses on working with local systems with programs that focus on women's empowerment and local capacity building. All these nuances are important to me as an employee. The people at the organization are all incredibly passionate about their work, and there is an international atmosphere and great cross-cultural collaboration and communication. The organization has been around for a long time but is open to change and evolution that propels the mission. There is space for employees to be creative and bring new ideas to the table, and there is a genuine commitment to the well-being of the staff, volunteers, partners, and patients.

Cons

As a small nonprofit, time and resources can be a constraint. Work-life balance can also be a challenge when doing mission-driven work.

Pros

This is a good time to be at ReSurge. Although the organization has been around for many year, when the long-time CEO retired, the current CEO came on board and tweaked the strategy to improve the organization's ability to meet its mission sustainably. The changes are really beginning to deliver results--long-time supporters are taking a fresh look at the organization, new supporters are showing an interest, and the programs continue to transform the lives of our patients. On a personal level, I love the fact that I have a great deal of autonomy, but know I can reach out to my manager and colleagues for support at any time.

Cons

As is the case in any transition, some people are not on board and choose to move on.
