Pros
Flexibility; remote environment; interesting work at times; mission-driven organization; bright, diverse, and motivated colleagues
Cons
I wish the clients of DEI consulting firms like ReadySet could have a lens onto their internal practices and politics. The inclusive values that ReadySet advocates for its clients are not uniformly modeled within the organization, making ReadySet's client "solutions" often ring hollow and insincere. Given its startup environment, business practices at ReadySet are often redundant and disorganized. Work products are subject to a heavy-handed review process that makes even the most diligent employees feel as if they must constantly reinvent the wheel. Client work is executed by multiple cooks in the kitchen trying to figure things out as they go along in a spirit of "building the plane while flying it" that is often celebrated in the startup world, but that does not always best serve clients. Work/life balance is hard to achieve at ReadySet unless business is slow. Founders, along with their friends and sycophants who learn to 'play the game' of self promotion, are favored for advancement. Others go unrecognized and unacknowledged. ReadySet attracts wonderful, diverse talent. Unfortunately, that talent is not fully valued, celebrated, uplifted, channeled, or cultivated unless folks are either part of the inner circle or willing to promote themselves often and loudly. As a result, ego - rather than inclusivity- tends to reign supreme at ReadySet.
