Pros

I'm a top performer and I make great money. The base is average at best but the commission is where you make the bulk of your paycheck. I average about 4k a month in commission and I now drive an Audi Q7!!! The contest are sweet. I've gone on 3 Carnival cruises, won a 42 in Plasma, and a 50 in plasma. I've gotten a bunch of little prizes like a digital camera, a cellphone, and a trip to Hilton Head. I know I have an advantage because I can sell!! It's a cake job. I get calls from people asking about my product. It's easy pic kin's!! I don't see why there aren't more people that can get on my level but I'll take every call that I can get. My previous employer had me cold calling out of the phone book!!! (Don't worry, I blasted them!) The people are pretty cool. The folks that I hang around are the people who have been here for a while. They know the ends and outs of the commission plans and I want to know how to make the most money I can. They played the NCAA tournament on big screen TV''s throughout the entire center. Some Director named Zo put them up and they even had a bracket pool. It was like a $1000 for the winner. My old job actually fired people one year for doing a pool. The building is pretty sweet. It's in a pretty safe location and it's not too bad of a drive for me but I'm in South Charlotte.

Cons

Although I do understand why, it's still pretty tough to ask to go take a break. On the business I work on they're pretty cool about it. "The Corp people upstairs" I'm so sick and tired of hearing about the people upstairs. Fact of the matter is that I know sales is where I want to be. In sales you write your own paycheck. If you want to make the same pay as the slacker next to you, then go upstairs. The job responsibilities are different so I don't worry about the people in "Corporate." I know that I'm needed because if I don't convert what they give me, none of us eat!! Yes, sometime there is pressure put upon you to perform. but as I think about it, I've never heard of a sales job that doesn't. Personally I don't get pressure put upon me because I work hard every day. I hear some of these people on the phones, they miss so many sales it's ridiculous. The compensation plan does change a lot. I stay one step ahead of them though. The past couple have been cool but I just figure out what they want to push and focus all of my energy on those things. Duh !!!!

Pros

Strong ownership, opportunity to manage people early, great people, nice campus. You will work on interesting problems and external companies. Great training if the space interests you.

Cons

Business future is uncertain, up or out management principles. New senior leaders somewhat disconnected from the day-to-day. Commute from Charlotte is horrible.
