Cons
Where should I even begin? Let's start with the basics. What I had hoped to be an excellent career opportunity had quickly turned into my worst nightmare. I should have listened to the Glassdoor reviews from previous employees that highlighted this company's high turnover rate. I really regret not heeding their warnings about this office being a toxic and hostile environment. Please, don't make the same mistake I did. There are always favorites who will leave good reviews for this company because they are treated differently from the rest of us. Please don't be naive and think those 4 or 5-star reviews that have nothing but great things to say are realistic. I believe I am being generous in giving this company a 2-star review. In many ways, high school never ended for the majority of people who work here. I'm not sure how they were raised but I was raised to be honest and to always do the right thing. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt but when they take my kindness and abuse it over and over, it is definitely time to leave the relationship. There is nothing more damaging to a company’s morale than to gossip and perpetuate rumors. Whether these rumors are true or not, drama becomes the center of everyone’s focus and the company can’t grow. The employees feel uneasy, unstable, and extremely insecure. These stresses cause drama to be continuously recycled. It seriously is worse than watching mean girls go at it in a Korean drama. At least you know there is an end to the series and they are not interfering with someone’s livelihood. Unfortunately, no matter who you are or which position you hold, you will eventually be roped into drama. Don’t bother running to your manager or HR. All they will do is gossip about you. The best advice I can give you is to trust no one. This hostile environment has become so toxic that everyone I know who is decent is trying to leave. The only reason they are still there is because they have bills to pay. Don’t put yourself in that position. If you’re smart and good at your job, you will have other opportunities. As for the CEO, he is a joke. He is incredibly unstable and is constantly changing his mind. One day your team will be fine and the next day he will call your team into his office and shout at you at the top of his lungs then inform you that your team has been eliminated. They say they care about their employees, but they have no reservations in eliminating your position without consulting you or your manager. He is constantly preaching about making decisions based on logic and research yet every single major decision he has made have been based on one emotion—fear. A CEO ruled by fear can’t successfully run a company. Be aware he will brag about his background and speak about how experienced he is in building multiple companies but if you look closely, you will see how insecure he is. It is actually quite sad. I truly feel sorry for him. Last but not least, best of luck to you and your job search. May you find a company that is truly worthy of your intelligence, time, sweat, blood, and tears. I can say with a hundred percent certainty that this is not that company.
