Pros

Stale bagels for breakfast Nothing else

Cons

The individual currently occupying this leadership role has demonstrated considerable misalignment with the expectations and responsibilities of their position. Their behavior frequently involves belittling and undermining colleagues, while also engaging in inappropriate and ethically questionable relationships with multiple employees, both inside and outside the workplace. These actions have raised serious concerns regarding professional boundaries and potential conflicts of interest. There is a consistent absence of empathy and emotional intelligence—traits that are fundamental to effective leadership in any human resources function. Promotions within the team often appear to be driven more by favoritism than by merit, contributing to a high turnover rate. In fact, the majority of direct reports under this individual have chosen to resign over the past few years. The overall leadership approach can be described as toxic, fostering a demoralizing and unhealthy work environment. While professional certifications may be present, they do not compensate for the interpersonal shortcomings or ethical concerns that have become evident. Numerous former team members have pointed to this individual's conduct as a primary factor in their decision to leave, with some even reporting negative impacts on their mental health. There is credible reason to believe that legal action, if pursued by those affected, could be supported by substantial evidence.

Pros

High Exposure to Full Project Lifecycle: You gain firsthand experience across all project phases, from preconstruction through closeout on large-scale developments. Fast-Tracked Responsibility: If you're competent and proactive, leadership will give you the space to take on senior-level tasks quickly, even if you're new to the role. Hands-On with Multiple Disciplines: You oversee every discipline throughout the cycle of the project, not just get assigned to particular disciplines at a time. Good exposure

Cons

Lack of Structured Support Systems: Processes often need to be built from scratch, or reinvented, because nothing is standardized. Minimal Training or Onboarding: You’re expected to "figure it out" and plug holes without much guidance. If you’re not self-directed, you’ll flounder. Understaffed for Scale: The lean team may not match the complexity or scale of the project, leading to inorganization, Upper management doesnt want to accept that, so the blame lands on the one's who have no authority to make a change. Visibility Challenges: Internal recognition can be skewed. Work often gets filtered through higher-ups or more vocal teammates. Quiet competency doesn’t always get noticed.
