Rifle Paper Co. is nothing but a facade, not unlike their products. Pretty on the outside, but once you look closer there’s nothing but frayed seams, haphazardly made decisions, and structure that is on the verge of total collapse. What was once an approachable and inspiring company with a bright future has turned into a factory run by incompetent, narcissistic people who have no interest or concern for their employees. The benefits are a joke, there’s no path for advancement, and the only opinion that the owners care about is their own. There’s absolutely no winning in their eyes. You'll be penalized for not thinking outside the box and thinking too creatively. Attempts at innovation are continually suppressed and obvious problems are ignored, even when brought to the attention of management. Because of this, the turnover rate is extremely high as employees have realized that staying has no benefit to themselves or their careers. "Company culture" could be described as "voluntary" night and weekend events that employees are essentially coerced into attending. And, let's not forget about the annual lunch-hour Halloween party where teams are required to dress up as their "favorite" Rifle products (no external ideas allowed). This event has only become an additional source of stress for employees who are berated if they don't invest time and money into their costumes every year. And, you're required to clock-out to attend. My time there was filled with false promises, absolutely zero gratitude/recognition, and mismanagement of both people and resources. The environment is toxic, the work is emotionally draining, and the “office” has more similarities with a moldy basement than any office I’ve ever seen. Though, a moldy basement may have a more appropriate human to bathroom ratio. Working there had more in common with being in an abusive relationship rather than a typical job where one can expect to get something in return for all they contribute. TLDR; Run.
