Pros

I have been working on Ringle for about one year. Personally, the platform meets all of my needs and suits my lifestyle. I personally find the pay really great; you can make up to 36.72 USD per hour if you level all the way up and get full incentives. There are four different levels and 2 ways to earn incentives. The first way is by opening up your schedule 2 weeks in advance of the date the meeting will be held (+3%), and the second way is by receiving an average of all 4.5 ratings and by teaching at least 10 lesson hours in a one week period (+5%). You can level up by earning lesson points (.5 points for a 20-minute lesson, 1 point for a 40-minute lesson). The levels and their pay break down as follows: Level 1: 0-100 points, Base Pay: $19 for 40min and $10.50 for 20min Level 2: 100-400 points, Base Pay: $20 for 40min and $11 for 20min Level 3: 400-1,000 points, Base Pay: $21 for 40min and $11.50 for 20min Level 4: 1,000+ points, Base Pay: $22 for 40min and $12 for 20min The hours are fully flexible; you get full compensation for no-shows, and the students are generally very intelligent and friendly. You aren't required to do any prep, and the only post-lesson tasks you have are to fill out a feedback report, which usually makes me 1-2 minutes each. You also should do some correcting/paraphrasing during the lesson, but it's not difficult.

Cons

My grievances are small, but I'll share anyway. I am personally a morning person, so I don't mind waking at 5am to do lessons, but others have been known to hate this. Most students are based in Korea, so you have to adapt to their schedule a little bit, especially if you plan on teaching full-time. Works for me but not for everyone. The feedback reports are a little redundant, but you can always ask the student if they need one. Sometimes they will leave a note saying they do not require one, so you won't have to fill one out. It takes a while to level-up honestly, but Ringle occasionally offers other opportunities to earn points (by attending webinars and other things). I would say that the huge gaps in required points between levels are one thing I am pretty frustrated with. The worst aspect for me personally is having to work with students who clearly do not want to be there. I work Ringle Teens, which means my students are aged anywhere from 5 years old to 18, and sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get them to speak. Finding a fun online spelling or English word game usually helps them open up, though. Another thing I dislike is that in order to earn the 5% incentive for weekly pay, you have to remain above 4.5 on average for your ratings that week. However, if a student cancels on you and you are reassigned a student, you automatically receive a 4.5 rating if the student doesn't rate you or if they rate you below 4.5. There is something called "Golden Star Tutors" on Ringle, and if you have this status, you get priority on the scheduling page. However, to achieve this, you have to have above a 4.8 rating, which is near-impossible to achieve with Ringle's automatic 4.5 policy. Other than this, I love Ringle!

Pros

Most of the students are lovely. The hours are generally flexible, and there is little preparation required.

Cons

The worst thing about this company is how they treat their tutors. They keep looking for sneaky ways to lower the tutor pay, and the way that they want the classes structured is arbitrary. They provide strict feedback that is nearly possible to implement, and they have a countless number of minuscule rules to follow that are impossible to keep up with. In other words, the tutor is never right.
