Rutgers protects itself, not employees or students - Anonymous employee Rutgers University Employee Review

Pros

Public employee benefits are strong, and there are many smart, highly motivated undergraduate students.

Cons

Rutgers is not a very collegial place to work. In addition, their position towards ethics and violations of their own policies is very lax. They will go out of their way to protect those in power, at the expense of the employees and students at the university.

Pros

co-workers are super nice, friendly and collaborative. Good flexibility in work arrangements. My immediate boss is nice.

Cons

Morale is quite low, and turnover is high. We are losing good people and goals are not being met. Senior Leader tell us to do more with less, and do not want constructive feedback. They don't lead by example, taking elaborate trips instead of being present and supporting staff. Rules don't apply to them. So disappointing, not what you would expect from a public university.
