Pros

Ryerson academy is a 6 month training program in Minneapolis brining recruits from all over North America. It is a great opportunity and positions yourself to advance through Ryerson and the industry as a whole. The ISR can be repetitive but as far as a an entry level job I have no large complaints.

Cons

Ryerson, and the entire steel industry is WAY behind the times. The way business is done, technology used, the general aversion to change (Ryerson is better then the competition but still behind the rest of the world). Be ready for a very old workforce that is predominantly young and male. The academy is the exception here but even after graduation and being placed you will see the demographic.
