Pros

nothing....just....literally nothing. Sub-standard pay, benefits, and time off

Cons

From the moment you interact with Shoplazza, the warning signs are hard to ignore. At first, you might chalk it up to cultural differences, keeping an open mind. However, the more you learn, the more evident it becomes that this is not a company set up for success—or for the well-being of its employees. Let’s start with the basics: they don’t provide essential tools, like a company computer. You’re expected to use your own device, then you need to install a ton of Chinese software - which give you pause by itself. THEN they also let you know their intent to surveil all your activity on the machine, which goes without saying is insanely invasive and unprofessional. Shoplazza is the definition of a copycat company. They aim to compete in the U.S. market but offer nothing unique to differentiate themselves. The platform is essentially the “WISH” version of Shopify—less functionality, worse performance - all while not even offering competitive pricing. Leadership has no answers when asked critical questions like, “What does Shoplazza do well? Why would anyone choose Shoplazza over competitors like Shopify, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce?” The truth is, they don’t know. The strategy, the vision, the value proposition—or lack thereof—is a glaring issue with no resolution anywhere in sight. Transparency is nonexistent. Employees are kept in the dark about core business objectives, performance metrics, or P&L details. Teams operate in complete silos, with little to no collaboration. The Chinese team—which makes up 99% of the workforce—seemingly actively avoids working with U.S.-based employees and often shows outright contempt for them. Meetings, if you can get them scheduled despite significant time zone challenges, are unproductive and disjointed. Even earning your paycheck is an uphill battle. You’re subjected to monthly performance reviews tied to OKRs just to get your full salary. This structure is demeaning and places undue stress on employees. Leadership’s approach to project management is equally problematic: they sell features that don’t exist, scramble to build subpar solutions to meet false promises, and move on without a second thought for long-term development, data integrity, or strategic outcomes. There’s no focus, no vision, and no accountability. The cultural dynamics are deeply problematic. Beyond communication challenges, the disdain from the Chinese team toward U.S. employees creates a toxic work environment. The vibe you get during the interview process is just the tip of the iceberg—it’s a reflection of the deeper dysfunction you’ll encounter daily. If you’re considering joining Shoplazza—especially as part of their American market initiative—think long and hard. The odd feeling you’ll get during the hiring process is your instinct telling you to steer clear. This is not a company with a viable strategy, a collaborative culture, or even basic respect for its employees. The challenges here are systemic and pervasive, and no role is worth the stress and frustration you’ll undoubtedly face.
