Pros

Hybrid model, I only have to be in office 1 day a week. Great perks. Unlimited vacation. So many in management have young kids that its very family friendly, and supportive of taking time when needed. People really believe in the work, and folks here work hard to support kids. The staff formed a union a fee years back, and a recent change in management, which seems to support the union, has led to a much more supportive and positive environment. It’s a pretty great place to work.

Cons

Newer staff very young. Sometimes it feels like you’re in high school. with managers as the teachers. The work is difficult and takes a toll emotionally.

Pros

We have wonderful clients and it is rewarding representing them and standing alongside them so they are not alone in their proceedings. Hybrid position, but more days at home than in person. Flexible and unlimited PTO. Great staff, collegial community. Unionized. Fantastic managing attorney.

Cons

Remote work is a privilege and also challenging, so it takes personal initiative to build out connections with colleagues. Immigration work is especially difficult at this moment, so the shape and volume of the work has rapidly changed. The executive director can greatly impact staff morale, so I'm hoping the board and management makes wiser decisions in their hiring process to find an ED with a strong record in immigration defense, who is empathetic and stands by their staff, and views the union and workers rights as important. No straight forward process of promotion within the organization, and the prospect does not exist if you are not interested in supervising other staff or pro bono attorneys. Health insurance can be expensive.
