Pros

Although my time with Salt + Light Works was brief, my decision to leave was based solely on personal fit. The organization’s mission and commitment to serving the community are truly inspiring. Adrianne, the CEO, demonstrates exceptional leadership, integrity, and compassion in all that she does. I hold the utmost respect for her and the team and wish Salt + Light continued growth and success in fulfilling its mission.

Cons

The position ultimately wasn’t the right fit for my experience and work style, but the leadership and mission are exceptional.

Pros

The most powerful part of working at Salt + Light is that we do our work where our neighbors live. That closeness changes everything. We are not just running programs, we are sharing space and building daily relationships. It means we can step in right when support is needed, celebrate small wins as they happen, and be present in the hard moments too. This creates a level of trust and connection that goes far deeper than traditional service models. The values of dignity, compassion, abundance, belonging, and radical hospitality are lived out in every interaction, making the workplace feel like a true forged family. The impact is real, and you see it every day in the lives of neighbors and in your own growth.

Cons

The work is demanding and can be emotionally intense, but the team culture and sense of purpose make it sustainable

Pros

The neighbors you meet and a few underdog employees that deserve BETTER.

Cons

This organization does not live up to the values it claims to represent. The leadership culture is toxic, emotionally volatile, and led by individuals who are underqualified for their roles. High turnover, constant team restructuring, and ongoing dissatisfaction among the very people they claim to serve all reflect deeper issues. Public information and community voices point to serious concerns, including questionable financial practices and unethical behavior. Locally, it has even earned the nickname “Salt and Lies” — and for good reason. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear. Don't believe me? Ask around and do your own research.
